In November 2016 we joined Marion – MaVo Tier- und Naturfoto – on a trip to Haines, Alaska to photograph the bald eagles. We found many of them in the Alaska Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve where they congegrate in the fall around the flats of the Chilkat river.

It was our first “birding” trip and we loved the experience 😉 We had a lot of fun trying to catch the eagles in flight and in fight. The latter being less easy because of the abundance of salmon – no need for fighting! Light conditions were sometimes a challenge and a lot of patience was required as well. The main birding lesson learned however was: we need longer lenses! 😀
